Our Story

Yukon Fencing was founded in 2021 by two Whitehorse fencing coaches looking to revive fencing in the Yukon. We are a volunteer run non-profit society building a safe and positive fencing community in the Territory. We are a vibrant and healthy fencing community that includes all persons regardless of age, gender, and bodies.

Our goal is to support all fencers goals. If you are excited to fence competitively we have the resources and ambition to develop national and international class fencers. Our coaches have fenced at the highest level in the world have the ability, knowledge, and network to develop athletes to the highest level.

Where?

We fence at Dámbü Tän Kets'ádań Kų̀ — Cliff Trail Elementary School (Whistle Bend Elementary) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

What to bring?

We provide all equipment to fence safely including masks, gloves, jackets, and the swords. Just bring comfortable athletic clothing including a t-shirt and long pants as well as running/court shoes.

What to expect?

Fencing is great exercise so expect to sweat! Our classes teach the techniques of fencing within games and drills to make learning fun. Soon after learning the basic moves and safety considerations students begin fencing each other. Students fence each other and learn new techniques over the course of the classes.
